Thank you to ALL parents who have helped us make everyday count by bringing your scholar to school EVERYDAY. Our average attendance at Minnequa is 94%, the goal this year is to be at 95% for the year. In order to reach this goal WE need your help- Every Minute, Every Day MATTERS! Important Information Parent/teacher conference weekConferences will be held October 21st through 24th from 3:15-5:00. Please reach out to your scholar’s teacher to make sure you schedule a time. Halloween The morning of October 31st will be a normal school day. Costumes MAY NOT be worn to school. Scholars should bring their costumes to school to change into prior to the parade. Parents are welcome to come in between 1:30 & 2:00 to help their scholar get dressed. If a parent chooses to take a scholar home to get dressed, they may pick them up after lunch, sign them out and take them home to get dressed. Scholars will not be allowed to walk home to get dressed. Costumes may not include weapons. Parents may not wear masks or full face paint on school grounds. We must be able to recognize all adults. The Halloween Parade will be held from 2:00 to 2:30. Parents and guests must be on the playground during the parade. Halloween Parties will be held from 2:30-3:05 in the classrooms. Treats MAY NOT be homemade- they should be packaged or store-bought. PTCO Meeting Minnequa’s Parent Teacher Community Organization had a meeting at the end of September to talk about many exciting topics. We would like to invite ALL parents to attend our next meeting on October 31st at 11. Our Agenda will be: finalizing Carnival plans, Book Fair and fundraisers. Please join if you can! Lunch will be provided. WELCOME BACK MINNEQUA SCHOLARS! There will be an assessment day on August 19, 2019. Teachers will call and schedule appointments for the assessment day during the week of August 12th. School begins on August 20, 2019. Our school start and end times are 7:45-3:05 Monday through Thursday. Scholars may begin arriving no earlier than 7:35 as there is no supervision until 7:35. Scholars will be let into the building at 7:40. Scholars will be marked tardy at 7:46. If a child is tardy, they should report to the front foyer to receive a tardy slip from the Community Advocate. Minnequa scholars follow the district dress code guidelines. We do not require school uniforms. Minnequa Elementary School utilizes a portion of the school's Title I funds to purchase school supplies for all scholars. If parents wish to make a school supply donation, we appreciate hand sanitizer, baggies, tissue, pencils, and or expo markers. Scholars will receive free breakfast and lunch again this school year. We are excited to inform you that we have also been awarded the healthy snack grant again for the afternoons Monday through Thursday! This is a sample of healthy fruit and or vegetables each day. |
