Welcome to Minnequa Elementary School
Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year!
I would like to take a moment to welcome all students and families to Minnequa Elementary School. We are so excited to get the year started. Teachers have been working very hard to prepare their classrooms and schedules so that students have a warm, safe and friendly learning environment. We have many exciting things that happen each year at Minnequa. Please use this website as a tool to find upcoming events for students and parents. We believe that parents are a vital part of educating children. We ask for your support and attendance to activities that we will host throughout the year. We want to remind parents that we have a parent resource room available for parents who wish to volunteer, would like information on a variety of parenting topics or information on education, and we have a computer available for parents to use. Please make it a point to stop by and visit our resource room. We look forward to working with the children and families of the Minnequa community. Welcome back!

Kindergarten Information
Kindergarten students will begin school on August 23, 2011. During the first two weeks of Kdg., students will attend school from 8:00 - 11:30. Teachers will be contacting parents to schedule individual Kindergarten assessments in the afternoon during these two weeks. Beginning the week of Sept. 6, 2011, Kindergarten students will attend school until 1:30. Theywill be served lunch and learn how to navigate through the cafeteria. Starting the week of September 12, 2011, Kindergarten students will attend school from 8:00-3:10 Mon.-Thurs. and 8:00-1:35 on Fridays.
**We will have a 40 minute parent information meeting on August 23, 2011 (the first day of school) starting at 8:20 in the cafeteria. At this meeting you will have the opportunity to learn about Title I, complete the paperwork needed, including the lunch application, and visit with the classroom teachers about expectations and classroom procedures.
We are looking forward to meeting and working with you and your child!
